Online News: Not Sustainable?

Just a few years ago, there were high hopes that going digital would prevent further shut-downs of newspapers that were losing massive amounts of revenue to online offerings.  There was also the promise that the new wave of online alternative news sites would be bolstered by digital advertising.  Such hopes are rapidly fading.  On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of  WIOX Radio New York discuss why. Their comments follow a report by the Al Jazeera news network, outlining the reasons for what’s happening, and its far-reaching effects:

Will Cow Flatulence Stink Up Efforts to Combat Climate Change?

The Political Theater of the Absurd has reached new lows, as  Republicans, Conservatives and Fox News continue efforts to convince the public that Climate Change is a hoax.   The roll-out of the Green New Deal by liberal Democrats is allowing Climate Change deniers new opportunities to depict as lunatics those who argue that Climate Change is real and is a dire threat to humanity.  Here’s the latest discussion between On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York.

Trump’s “National Emergency” –Will It Hit a Wall?

The President did it  –he’s declared a national emergency as a way of getting his long-promised wall built.  But will his critics in Congress stop it, as they are already promising they will?  Here’s On-Target’s Larry Sparano’s thoughts on it, in a conversation with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

Color Line Explains Crisis in Venezuela

Part of the untold story about what’s happening in Venezuela involves a very old story in Latin America, of the haves and have nots, which also a story of skin color. On-Target’s Larry Sparano lays it all out, in a conversation with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York. Their discussion follows a report by independent journalist Greg Palast, of Information Clearning House. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/51083.htm

‘El Chapo’ to Pay for Trump’s Wall?

Could newly-convicted Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman, known as ‘El Chapo’ end up “paying” for Trump’s border wall?  Sen. Ted Cruz says it could happen, through use of 14 billion dollars seized by the Feds, from the proceeds of Guzman’s drug trafficking empire.   Here’s more on that intriguing possibility, along with the latest betting on whether Trump will sign the compromise bill to fund the Wall.  The conversation is between On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

The Wall Compromise: Best Path for Trump?

As we seem to be heading for a Democrat-Republican compromise on Wall funding, President Trump is being criticized by the far-right for caving in to the liberals.  But On-Target’s Larry Sparano believes Trump might be choosing the best path to avoid another round of the turmoil which the recent government shutdown generated –a turmoil which was destructive for both sides of the political isle.  Here’s Larry’s discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

Trump Socialism

Better Healthcare Through “Socialism”?

In his State of the Union address, President Trump vowed that America will never become a socialist nation.  That seemed to be a shot at Bernie Sanders and the new Democrats who won their mid-term elections by calling for universal Healthcare, free education, higher taxes on the rich and other programs which many Republicans are quick to label as “socialism.”  But would such programs really be socialism, and lead to the ruination of the country?  An increasing number of Americans seem to think otherwise, as reflected in recent public opinion polls.  Here’s On-Target’s Larry Sparano, in discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

State of the Union: A Win or Loss for Trump?

Democrats are quickly pointing out what they say are all the distortions, exaggerations and lies in Trump’s State-of-the-Union address.  But will it make any difference heading into the 2020 election season?  Will Trump continue to hold his base, and perhaps even win new support?   And can Democrats rally enough votes to oust him by attacking his credibility?   Hear what On-Target’s Larry Sparano thinks, in his latest discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

U.S. Effort to Remove Maduro: Will Russia Intervene?

Why is the U.S. trying to oust Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, and replace him with Juan Guaido?  And will Russia, and even China try to stop it?  On-Target’s Larry Sparano says it’s an old story of U.S. exploitation of Latin America, and is reminiscent of what happened in Cuba.  Here’s his discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:

Blackface: The Unforgiven?

It happened 35 years ago.  Should a racist photo involving Virginia’s  governor drive him from office now?   Here’s the discussion between On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
