Former New York Times correspondent Chris Hedges continues to predict the decline of the American Empire, despite the “magical thinking” that politicians and others present to reassure the public. Hedges say the America we know, the America many of us grew up in, will end in a decade –or two decades as the most. Is he right? Here’s On-Target’s Larry Sparano, talking about that dire prediction, with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
Bernie Sanders’ appearance at a televised Fox News Town Hall meeting this week was a big win for the candidate in his bid to become president. This, despite the Democratic National Committee’s position that anyone who is running as a Democrat should not appear on such a show. On Target’s Larry Sparano explains why he thinks the DNC is all wet in its criticism, and how its decision to boycott Fox just plays into the Conservative network’s trashing of almost all-things Democratic. Here’s Larry in discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
Is Bernie Sanders already emerging as a candidate who will be a strong front runner as the 2020 campaign season gets underway? There are a number of indications showing that he might take the lead among Democrats, even if Joe Biden gets into the race for the presidency. But what would be his chances of beating Trump? On-Target’s Larry Sparano reminds listeners that in 2016, polls showed Sanders beating Trump in a head-to-head contest. And many analysts believe he would have, if Hillary Clinton hadn’t snatched the Democratic nomination away from him through her use of Super Delegates Here’s Larry’s assessment of it, in this exchange with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
We have two reports for you today: First, a story about why a black family decided not to cover up racial graffiti scrawled on their house. Second, a separate report on what political baggage Joe Biden will drag with him if he decides to enter the 2020 presidential race. Both conversation are between On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
Beto O’Rourke says he’s in. He joins a growing field of Democratic contenders for the big prize. Can he make it all the way to the White House his first time around? On-Target’s Larry Sparano and Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York discuss O’Rourke’s strengths and weaknesses as he aims high -very high:
There is a movement afoot to shut down any sort of criticism of the current Israeli government and it’s hard-line policies on Palestinians by calling it “Anti-Semitism.” And the U.S. Congress is going along with it. It’s called BDS (Boycott Divestment Sanctions) and it would empower the Federal government to criminalize the actions of any company, organization and even individual citizens who speak out critically of the Israeli government –equating such criticism with “Anti-Semitism,” and hate speech. On-Target’s Larry Sparano says it’s an outrage, clearly against every citizen’s right to free speech, as guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. And he warns, if this gets passed, where will it end? Here’s his conversation with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
There is Increasing speculation about Bernie Sander’s chances of beating Trump in 2020. While cynics were quick to dismiss his prospects following his announcement last week that he was running, some reassessment is already under way. On-Target’s Larry Sparano says such second thoughts are valid, considering what the polls said about a Sanders-Trump match up, before Hillary Clinton used the Superdelegates to snatch the nomination away from Sanders.
In his State of the Union address, President Trump vowed that America will never become a socialist nation. That seemed to be a shot at Bernie Sanders and the new Democrats who won their mid-term elections by calling for universal Healthcare, free education, higher taxes on the rich and other programs which many Republicans are quick to label as “socialism.” But would such programs really be socialism, and lead to the ruination of the country? An increasing number of Americans seem to think otherwise, as reflected in recent public opinion polls. Here’s On-Target’s Larry Sparano, in discussion with Kent Garrett of WIOX Radio New York:
